Job Description

As a Communications Hardware Specialist, your primary responsibility is to design, develop, and maintain hardware components essential for communication systems. This role involves a combination of technical expertise in hardware engineering, a deep understanding of communication protocols, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware components into communication systems.

We are only considering candidates who reside locally in Austin, Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hardware Design and Development: Design and develop hardware components such as routers, switches, modems, and other networking equipment.

  2. Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of hardware specifications to ensure compliance with performance requirements and industry standards.

  3. Collaborate with engineering teams to define hardware architecture and develop schematics for communication devices.

  4. Prototyping and Testing: Prototype and test hardware components to verify functionality, performance, and reliability.

  5. Conduct rigorous testing procedures to identify and resolve hardware-related issues.

  6. Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and product specifications.

  7. Communication Protocols: Stay updated on emerging communication protocols and standards relevant to the field.

  8. Implement communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and others into hardware designs.

  9. Optimize hardware configurations to enhance data transmission speed, efficiency, and security.

  10. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Provide technical support for troubleshooting hardware-related issues in communication systems.

  11. Collaborate with field technicians and support teams to diagnose and resolve hardware problems efficiently.

  12. Develop maintenance procedures and guidelines to ensure the long-term reliability and performance of communication hardware.

  13. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of hardware designs, test results, and troubleshooting procedures.

  14. Generate reports detailing hardware performance metrics, including throughput, latency, and error rates.

  15. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on hardware development projects and initiatives.
