Job Description

Answer Main Switchboard phones in a timely, courteous and professional manner

The Department of Children and Families is seeking a dependable, professional, and service-oriented receptionist to assist with the day-to-day operations.  This role requires someone who is organized, approachable, always ready to lend a hand to help wherever needed- an individual who takes pride in being the face of our department.

RATE: $15.08 - $17.08/hr. On W2

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of agencies and departments within the building to assist staff and visitors as needed.
  • Stay informed about the Department of Children and Families (DCF) daily meetings and designated conference room usage.
  • Create and manage a centralized calendar for meetings and events.
  • Maintain and regularly update the agency phone directory and contact lists.
  • Replace copier toner and assist with basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Provide general support to other departments with ad hoc administrative tasks.
  • Answer telephone calls to the Department of Children and Families (DCF) main switchboard number in a timely, courteous, and professional fashion.

  • Proactive and always prepared—ready to represent the department should high-profile visitors (such as the Governor) arrive.
  • Strong sense of initiative and a willingness to assist wherever needed.

Required / Desired Skills:

  • Multi-Line Telephone ExperienceRequired: Minimum of 1 year.

  • Strong Interpersonal and Customer Service SkillsRequired: Minimum of 1 year.

  • High School Diploma or EquivalentRequired: At least 1 year since completion.

  • Previous Administrative or Clerical ExperienceRequired: Minimum of 1 year (preferred).
